The Bee Community: The Study of an Insect

  • First edition, first impression of this charming illustrated work on honey bees, with chapters on their biology, classification, social structures, and habits, as well as information on bumble bees and wasps, and "unsolved problems and mysteries" of bee biology. The publisher, Bee Craft, was founded in 1919 as a country journal devoted to beekeeping. In 1947 it became the official journal of the British Beekeeper's Association, and it still operates today, publishing print and digital editions of its magazine as well as educational books on bees and beekeeping.
  • Petts Wood, Kent: Bee Craft; A. G. Smith, 1948. Octavo. Original yellow cloth, titles to spine in brown. With the dust jacket. 6 plates, illustrations throughout the text. Minor bump to lower corner. An excellent, fresh copy in the partially tanned jacket with a chip and short split at the tail of the spine panel and a few other small nicks and short splits.
